Paul Pogba breaks personal record with Manchester United goal against Fulham

It didn’t take long for Paul Pogba to continue his scintillating form, requiring just 14 minutes to break the deadlock against Fulham.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes to his starting XI in light of Tuesday’s heavyweight Champions League encounter against PSG, but so crucial has the Frenchman been to Manchester United’s recent upsurge that the Norwegian opted to keep the 24-year-old at the heart of his midfield for the visit to Craven Cottage.

United were sloppy during the early stages as the struggling hosts created several promising opportunities, but Solskjaer’s side burst into life just shy of the quarter hour mark.

Anthony Martial reclaimed possession deep in Fulham territory and located the run of Pogba with a clever reverse pass.

There appeared to be little immediate danger but Sergio Rico was beaten at his near post after Pogba unleashed an explosive shot which left the Spanish goalkeeper completely flat-footed.

The goal was Pogba’s 10th of the Premier League season, meaning he has now hit double figures in a league campaign for the first time of his career, and a staggering 80% of those have come under the interim management of Solskjaer, who replaced Jose Mourinho in December.

Pogba appeared destined for the Old Trafford exit door having been stripped of the vice-captaincy and left out of several high-profile matches, including the 3-1 defeat at Anfield which ultimately proved to be Mourinho’s last game in charge.

THE MASCARENE PARROT

The Mascarene parrot was 35 cm (14 in) in length with a large red bill and long, rounded tail feathers. Its legs were red, and it had naked red skin around the eyes and nostrils. It had a black facial mask and partially white tail feathers, but the colouration of the body, wings and head is unclear. Descriptions from life indicate the body and head were ash grey, and the white part of the tail had two dark central feathers. In contrast, descriptions based on stuffed specimens state that the body was brown and the head bluish but do not mention the dark central tail feathers. This may be due to the specimens having changed colour as a result of aging and exposure to light, as well as other forms of damage. Very little is known about the bird in life. The Mascarene parrot was first mentioned in 1674, and live specimens were later brought to Europe, where they lived in captivity . The species was scientifically described in 1771. Only two stuffed specimens exist today, in Paris and Vienn...
