Berlin anti-COVID-19 measures protesters chant 'We are free'

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Berlin chanting "We are free people" as they complained about Germany's social distancing measures. The demonstrations come amid increasing concern about an upturn in coronavirus infections in Germany. Protesters marched from the landmark Brandenburg Gate through central Berlin before holding a rally on a wide boulevard. Police then broke up the rally, saying that the organizers were unable to ensure that safety and health regulations were being observed. The police said on Twitter that over 17,000 attended the protest. A criminal complaint against the organizers for failing to comply with the regulation was later filed. Many protesters wore no masks and disregarded social distancing rules. Some yelled at people who wore masks, telling them to remove them. There were placards reading "Stop corona insanity," while some protesters wore T-shirts with "Corona=fake news" printed on the front.  Some even danced

Rep. Clyburn compares Trump to Mussolini, says president won't leave White House if he loses election

The Shehu, in response to the attack on the convoy of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, made this lamentation in Maiduguri when he paid traditional Sallah homage on the Governor at the Government House. 24-yr-old woman allegedly stabs boyfriend to death over cheating in Lagos

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by the Lagos state police for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death over alleged cheating. The woman named Nkechi, aka Omalicha, allegedly attacked Auwal Suleiman, 26, yesterday,  August 1st, 2020, at their residence in Sagbokoji Island, Apapa, Lagos State. The couple started dating in 2018 and began living together in 2019. On August 1, 2020, they got into a heated argument over alleged cheating and during the argument, the suspect took a knife and stabbed her boyfriend to death. Nigeria has no direction, no captain, needs prayers – Secondus

Uche Secondus, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has insisted that Nigeria currently has no direction. Secondus made the remark while stressing that the country needed truthful and honest leaders. The PDP National Chairman made the assertion while commissioning the party’s new secretariat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday. Secondus stressed that Nigeria needed prayers and God’s intervention. He commended PDP governors across the country for their achievements. According to Secondus: “Our country today needs leaders who will be truthful, honest and trusted. “The PDP has shown clearly that we have the best governors because of the role call of achievements and the country can confirm what they have seen. “Our county needs a lot of prayers. “A country with no direction, without a captain, we need a lot of prayers. “You all know what we are going through. “We need God’s intervention.”
