Chelsea ditch Oblak interest as £50m stopper declares interest in move

Jan Oblak

Chelsea look set to ditch their interest in Jan Oblak and Dean Henderson and move for a new £50m goalkeeper target instead.

Veteran back-up goalkeeper Willy Caballero once again started over club-record signing Kepa in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Chelsea lost the game 2-1, with Kepa watching on from the bench, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck twice for the Gunners.

The likelihood of the 25-year-old lining up as first-choice the Blues next season looks slim at best. Especially with Frank Lampard seemingly lining up his replacement.

Man Utd stopper Henderson had been a major target for Lampard, having excelled on loan at Sheffield United this season.

But United are keen to sign the England hopeful to a new deal, as they view him as their long-term No 1.

That led Chelsea to switch targets to experienced Atletico Madrid man Oblak, but the Slovenian comes with a heavy price tag.

The LaLiga giants would want over £100m for the 27-year-old – a price even steep for the big-spending Blues.

Despite that price, former Spurs and United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Chelsea should do all they can to secure Oblak’s signing.

Pope the answer for Chelsea

However, it appears the Stamford Bridge outfit are ready to take a different route to find a new No 1.

That route leads them to Burnley and a proposed £50m deal for England international Nick Pope.

The DailyExpress reports that the 28-year-old is very interested in a return to London, having previously starred at Charlton.

Pope would certainly be a far cheaper option than Oblak. That would also allow Chelsea to focus on other potentiual summer targets.

Burnley are likely to resist any approach from the Blues. But if the player is keen and the price is right, then Lampard may soon get his man.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard admitted that Chelsea were too complacent in the FA Cup final and that they did not play well enough to win it.

The untold truth of Jet Li

Whenever kung fu comes up in conversation, the movies of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are inevitably discussed, but in his native China, Jet Li is held in equally high regard.

what is the most frightening thing that you have ever seen happen in life

It’s a man looking over his family during the British Raj in India. There were many cases of cannibalism and he feared someone would try to kill and eat his children or wife. I acknowledge this is a difficult picture to look at— but I included it for a reason. Many people in the US/West aren’t even aware of the terrible famines that swept through India and which are comparable to the holocaust in deaths (an estimated ~30 million people have died in famines in India). This was taken from the Great Famine of 1876–1878, which was far worse than the infamous Bengal Famine. It was caused by a crop failure/drought and was exacerbated by the crown’s export of wheat abroad. In total, 5.6 - 9 million people died (it’s hard to get exact figures). And within huge statistics like these, are forgotten stories. These are individuals and families, who slowly faced the despair of knowing they had no food and would have no food in the near future. They faced the horror of knowing there was

Right when we were beginning to see Coronavirus and RSV rates drop this spring, one more kind of infection added to a spike in respiratory contaminations

Instances of one more sort of respiratory infection have spiked this spring, similarly as Coronavirus and RSV rates were at last falling in the US. As per the CDC, 19.6% of antigen tests and almost 11% of PCR tests for human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, were positive in the US toward the beginning of Spring. The almost 11% of positive PCR cases is up 36% since before the Coronavirus pandemic when PCR tests for HMPV were returning with a pace of 7% inspiration, as per the CDC. Conversely, Coronavirus cases were down almost 30% toward the start of Spring, as per the World Wellbeing Association, and the quantity of individuals being hospitalized for RSV was down to 1.2 individuals per 100,000 in Spring from 4.5 individuals per 100,000 in January, as per the CDC. Side effects of HMPV incorporate hack, fever, nasal blockage, and windedness, as per the CDC. The side effects could advance into bronchitis, pneumonia, or other comparative infections that cause upper and lower respi
